I spent the last month doing a lap of the USA, playing shows with two super rad bands. If you pay attention to me and/or live in the free world, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of FRANK TURNER & THE SLEEPING SOULS and LARRY & HIS FLASK. If you haven’t, check out their records and go to their shows — both are WELL worth your time.
I am so grateful to the lovely Frank Turner for inviting me to do these dates and putting together a killer bill. Frank’s band The Sleeping Souls and the Flask guys were - in addition to kicking ass, rocking hard, and inspiring the hell out of me every night - very sweet individuals who I’ve come to adore.
I want to thank everyone who worked SO HARD behind the scenes to make these shows great - front-of-house sound engineer and tour manager Casey Cress (1 handsome man, 2 full-time jobs); stage manager, guitar tech, bass tech, drum tech, and Norse god Grizz Middleton (he changed my life forever when he taught me a new way to change my strings… also HIS NAME IS GRIZZ); FT assistant TM, merch man, and Most Beautiful Man In Rock & Roll Eric “Malibu Ken” Pinkos; bus driver extraordinaire/all around wonderful man Greg Walker; and the Flask tour and merch manager Randi Hobbs, who taught me a lot and kept me knee-deep in sass all month.
I also want to thank everyone who came out to each of these shows and helped make them so special. I had the most fun, and that wouldn’t have been possible if the people who love Frank and the Flask weren’t open-hearted and open-eared. Thank you for listening, for high-fiving me, for singing along every night with “Ring of Fire.” HOLY SMOKES YOU ARE AWESOME AND I HOPE WE MEET AGAIN. You know?
And now a word from the guys I miss right now…
