While I was in LA last month, Molly Green (my co-spirit animal) and I spent a couple nights engaging in questionable activities in the name of shooting a time-lapse photo-based music video for No More Words. Because all the shooting took place between the hours of 8pm and 11am, we had a lot of mid-day meat to kill (what?). We decided to go see Sam Raimi’s DRAG ME TO HELL. (Note: this was Molly’s second viewing of this film). I won’t get too deep into it, but I’ll say I enjoyed it and you should consider it if you like hilariously frightening gross-out movies. Mm mm mm. THE POINT, THOUGH is that in the course of shooting, we ended up at a diner in LA which also appears as a location in the film. Alison Lohman plays the lactose-intolerant daughter of an alcoholic, who turns to the comforting arms of ice cream when she is stressed out. Since she spends most of the movie trying to avoid being dragged to hell, it stands to reason that her heart rate consistently is through the roof. During the scene that takes place in this diner, she orders a sundae, polishes it off no problem, then orders another. A SECOND SUNDAE, PEOPLE. SHE IS STRESSED OUT. So Molly and I decided to recreate that moment (see photo). Here I am, giving the universal sign for “Give me another goddamnit” over the top of an empty sundae cup (it took three of us to make it most of the way down to the bottom of the goblet).
